This are one of my favorite cookies, love them, anise aroma across the the kitchen
Grind the star anise in a food processor. Sift the flour and anise, With an electric mixer beat the egg yolks until smoothly blended and then add the sugar, continue mixing until combine and smooth. Whish the egg whites in a electric mixer on full speed until very stiff.
Add two of egg whites into the egg yolks mixture and mix very gently with a wooden spoon, then add remining egg whites and mix gently. Add the flour and anise into the eggs mixture 1 tablespoon a time, not be in hurry. Mix everthing very gently to combine well.
Drop teaspoon of mixture on greased baking sheets and leave over the night.
On the second day, preheat the oven to 160C and bake for 15 minutes, Leave the cookies on the baking sheets until cool completely.
Cakes are delicious, in a closed box there anisees cookies may lie very long.
